It all began
in Europe and not in America as most think. The very first
"beauty pageant" took place in France where art and beauty
is a passion. The very first contest in Poland took place in
1929 in which Wladyslawa Kostakowna was crowned Miss Polonia
®.
After a short pause, the next Polish contest
reappeared in 1983. Year after year the contest became more
popular, especially in 1994 when Miss Polonia ®
placed 4th at the Miss World contest. In 1994 the pageant
deviated from norm and candidates from other countries were
permitted to compete. In 1996 Anna Fizek, Miss Polonia USA
placed as 2nd runner up in Poland at the Miss Polonia
® competition. Afterwords she went on to
compete in Malaysia and placed 3rd in "Queen of the Year
®". In 1998, Agnieszka Zakreta, Miss
Polonia USA '98 became the next condidate living out side of
Poland to take home a special award. She went on to compete in
Malaysia and won the title of Miss Tourism International
® 1999.
In 1999, the work relationship between Miss
Polonia ® and Miss Polonia USA ended. It
wasn't untill 2004 that Miss Polonia ®,
Poland and Miss Polonii Stanów Zjednoczonych renewed their
relationship in the United States.
In January 2002, a Illinois Cook County Court
Judge declared Miss Polonii Stanów Zjednoczonych, an Illinois
Non-Profit-Organization to have sole exclusive rights to use the
term "Miss Polonii" in promoting beauty pageants in the United
States. Miss Polonii S.Z. who name was legally changed to
Miss Polish American in 2007 immediately initiated negotiations
with the Miss Polonia ® organizers in
Poland. The Miss Polish American winner takes part as a guest of
honor in the
Contest in Poland. |
